Le Cinq Mondes Showplace
Housed within the four-star Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, Le Spa Cinq Mondes is an 8,600-square-foot showplace. An outpost of Paris’s award-winning Le Spa Cinq Mondes (which means Spa of the Five Worlds), the full-service spa specializes in the techniques, traditions and ancestral rituals found in a range of cultures, including those from Indonesia (Balinese), (North) Africa, China, Brazil and Japan. Eleven treatment rooms including three suites, a yoga room, sumptuous Turkish bath, fitness area with sauna, boutique and hair salon, completes this shrine to serenity.
A haven of tranquility for mind and body, Cinq Mondes is the creation of Jean-Louis Poiroux, who spent 10 years traveling the globe to discover the world’s best treatments and techniques. The result is a fine-tuned philosophy and product line that prohibits the use of silicone, mineral oils, artificial coloring and animal-based ingredients.
The spa menu features two-, three-, and four-day sojourns, as well as shorter rituals and individual treatments for the face and body. Crafted exclusively for the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, the two-and-a-half-hour Royal Lulur Ritual (from Indonesia) dates back to the 16th century. This deeply relaxing ritual was originally practiced on the princes and princesses of Siam on their wedding day and includes a Tropical Aromatic Hammam (Turkish Bath), followed by a Puree de Papaya Scrub and Graines et Fleurs Lulur Exfoliation and Balinese Massage. The Spa That Started It All
Long acknowledged as one of Europe’s most beautiful spas, Les Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo continues to reinvent the spa experience with a state-of-the-art treatment facility and cutting-edge treatments. Constructed of rose marble, light woods and broad expanses of glass, Les Thermes Marins overlooks the sparkling Mediterranean and Monaco’s yacht harbor.
Its outstanding facilities include more than 40 treatment rooms, a large indoor pool with shell décor based on Botticelli's Venus de Milo, an analytic pool with jet streams, cardio-fitness room and a Moroccan-style hammam. Accompanying these world-class amenities are a beauty salon (with La Prairie & Lancaster cosmetic partners), hairdressing salon, an outdoor terrace with views of the harbor and sea, a juice bar and one of Monaco’s most popular restaurants, L’Hirondelle.
Les Thermes Marins has an extensive spa service menu, ranging from simple massages to more exotic treatments such as the Monte-Carlo Diamond massage or the Monte-Carlo Sea Luxury combination, highlighting the use of soothing oils and local products such as olive oil, basil and lavender. In addition to these glamorous massages, the spa boasts a new Argan oil treatment using powerful oil exclusively from the Tiout cooperative farm in Morocco. The fair trade of this oil was negotiated by HSH Prince Albert II as part of Monaco’s sustainable development policy carried out by the Principality in more than 10 African and Mediterranean countries. The Tiout farm enables more than 60 Berber women to increase their income and to attend adult literacy classes, while making them aware of the importance of preserving their Argan forest.
The spa can be accessed via underground walkways from both the Hôtel de Paris and the Hôtel Hermitage. For additional details, visit www.montecarlospa.com.
